Real name: Nguyen Hai Chi

Born in 1944 in An Giang (South of VietNam)

Self-learning of painting since his childhood

Has performed paintings and journalisme since 1965.

Member of HCMC Association of Fine Arts.

Died in Virginia (USA) on 13 March 2003

Has been drawing satirical cartoons since the South VietNam period, he is now the nation's biggest cartoonists. Collaborator of many

Vietnamese newspapers in HCMC. His works have been introduced overseas in such media as the Saigon Times Weekly,

NewYork Times, Times, Chicago Daily News, Register, L'Hebdo, Asahi Shinbun, Okinawa Times, Kyodo and the BBC.

His pen name is : CHOE

 

Appreciated as "the Vietnam number one editorial cartoonist", Choe believes that "The most civilised and traditional things are

always going together same time".  Under his paintbrush, the famous persons around the world were appeared in his artworks with a

new air attracting viewers. Choe expressed him self in such an ingenious style that some critics nicknamed his brush as "the

"Caricature always promises a joy. It's hard for me to live without it. Finding a funny aspect in the life is my work. As I see it, there is much more funny things than we can imagine" - said Choe.
